What to expect from your second trimester

Baby: Your little one will continue to develop and grow this trimester.

What’s growing this trimester?

  • Hair
  • Eyelashes
  • Eyebrows
  • Soft, downy hair covers your baby’s body to keep them warm! This will shed before birth.

Your little one is also practicing to suck and swallow and can even taste the foods you eat in the amniotic fluid! Other senses are developing too such as smell and hearing. You should also start to feel your baby swimming, tumbling, and kicking around.

Momma: Hopefully your morning sickness has decreased by this time. You may now be having other symptoms related to pregnancy hormones.

These symptoms include:

  • Nasal congestion
  • Mild swelling in your feet and ankles
  • Bleeding gums
  • Leg cramps.

It is also common to experience some dizziness, achiness, or even varicose veins. Be sure to tell your provider about any symptoms you may be experiencing.

You may also be feeling some anxiety or apprehension. These are natural feelings to have when you are looking forward to bringing a new life into the world!
